HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE AUCKLAND WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN

The Auckland Council has released the draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan. They are asking Aucklanders for their opinions on the plan, with submissions closing on 31 January 2012. It would be great to see some reduction in the amount of rubbish Aucklanders send to landfill.

November 2011

AUCKLAND GARDEN DESIGNFEST

The inaugural Auckland Garden DesignFest will take place on the weekend of November 19 and 20, 2011. 24 gardens, all designed by professional garden designers, will be open to raise much-needed funds for three children’s charities supported by The Rotary Club of Newmarket. Designers will be on hand in the gardens to chat to visitors. This is a great opportunity to get some ideas for your own gardens. Tickets are $40 per person to visit all the gardens over the two day weekend, or tickets can be purchased to visit individual gardens. For further information, check www.gardendesignfest.co.nz.

Our courses for Terms 1 and 2 of 2012 are now advertised on our website. These include all 3 modules of the Design Your Own Garden Stage II course. Check our Courses page for further information.

COMPLIMENTARY GARDEN DESIGN COURSE WINNER

The Kings newsletter draw for a complimentary Design Your Own Garden Stage I course was won by Helen Hempstock from Howick. Helen has a tiered garden where all the water ends up on the bottom level, creating a boggy mess, so is looking forward to finding some solutions to this situation on one of our courses in Term 4.

HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE AUCKLAND PLAN

The Auckland Council is keen to get feedback on the Auckland Plan discussion document and the key themes that are being considered. The Auckland Plan will be a bold 30-year vision and strategy for Auckland underpinned by the Mayor's vision of making it the world's most liveable city. You have until 4pm on the 31st May to give feedback.

Online feedback can be made at www.theaucklandplan.govt.nz.

She has won awards at the Ellerslie Flower Show, and last year she won the award for Best Design for a Small Project at the Landscaping New Zealand Awards.
